Ukrainian Soldier’s Wife Leaks Classified Info to Russian Forces: Intel
The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) has arrested the wife of one of its soldiers after discovering that she provided classified military information to invading Russian forces.
A 31-year-old woman from the city of Dnipropetrovsk reportedly leaked the whereabouts of her husband’s military unit and key facilities used by Ukrainian armed forces.
She also informed Russian intelligence about the frontline positions of high-powered equipment in the eastern cities of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia, where intense fighting has been reported.
According to the SBU, the “traitor” started working for the enemy in May.
Russia allegedly promised the woman citizenship and a high standard of living once they succeeded in invading Ukrainian regions.
Ukrainian officials arrested the soldier’s wife on September 2, seizing communications equipment such as computers.
Wife ‘Used Husband’ for Intelligence
The SBU revealed the woman “used her husband in the dark,” asking for his military unit’s location.
She was also reportedly able to acquire data regarding the advanced positions of other Ukrainian forces.
The soldier’s wife communicated the locations to Russian Federation military intelligence through messengers.
Russian frontline battle groups then used the data to launch artillery, mortar, and air strikes on enemy positions.
“She took such a step despite the fact that she is married to a serviceman of the Armed Forces and they have a son together. Her husband, being on the eastern front, regularly transferred money for the maintenance of the child,” the Ukrainian government’s main intelligence and security agency disclosed.
